This March, Computer Science Study Program, UPI has held a Java expertise certification. The certification of Java expertise consists of 2 parts, those are Java Fundamentals and Java Programming, which was held on 14th-15th and 19th-20th March 2018.

35 Participants in the Java Fundamentals were given several useful presentations by Mr. Yaya Wihardi, M.Kom. The soldering was about how to make simple animations using Alice. In addition, participants were given other materials that were about making simple games using Greenfoot. Participants looked very enthusiastic when given these two materials and so that the speaker gave the challenge to make animations or simple games for participants in groups.
The use of Alice and Greenfoot is easy to understand to create animations and simple games. However, not only that, on the first day of the Java Fundamentals training, participants were introduced to the Eclipse application, which is an application to simplify Java coding.

On the second day, participants started the day with midterm work for approximately 2 hours. After that, using Eclipse the participants were provided with basic coding knowledge given by Mr. Eddy Prasetyo Nugroho, M.T., also Ms. Erna Piantari, M.T. The implementation of the Java Basic coding training on the second day took about 3 hours 30 minutes and then continued with the final exam for 2 hours.

Closing on the second day of training and certification of Java Fundamental expertise is the awarding of graduation and awarding the winners of the challenge of making animations and games. The winners of the challenge are:

1. Rocket games use Greenfoot (Fikry, Wiwi, and Reinaldi).
2. Actor games using Greenfoot (Ershad,).
3. Animated fish runoff using Alice (Anita, Sita, Velina, and Rani).

Not only that, but participants were also given awards based on the highest value achieved by Fikry, Reinaldy, and Risna.

Meanwhile, in the Java Programming expertise training and certification held on 19th to 20th March 2018, a total of 30 participants were given the material on the introduction of Java coding on the first day.

In addition, participants were also provided with deeper Java Programming knowledge on the second day by two presenters, Ms. Rosa Ariani Sukamto, M.T., and Mr. Yudi Wibisono, M.T. The material provided was about string, recursion, and also deploying an application.

Unlike the Java Fundamental training, in the Java Programming training participants were given a group challenge to create a simple Java program. The challenges were presented one by one and demonstrated in front of other participants as well as presenters. The result, the program was made very interesting and got 3 championship groups, they were:

1. DuelCard (Lusan, Akbar, and Lingga).
2. Who Wants to be a Graduated Quiz (Ershad, Ersa, Mira).
3. Text Adventure (Fidela, Febyana, Zakka, Fikry).

Although it was hampered by a server from Oracle that could not be accessed, this certification exam was completed on April 5, 2018. This test resulted in 3 people winning the highest scores, namely Zulfikar, Fikry, and Tri Samsul.

This Java Training and Certification which lasted for 4 days was held at the UPI Directorate of ICT Conference Room and was completed after the Java Programming examination on April 5th, 2018.
