Collaboration between the Computer Science Education Department Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia and the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta

The Computer Science Education Department Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) once again made a collaborative visit to improve performance and achievements. This time, the Computer Science Education Department held a collaborative visit to the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) within the realm of Higher Education Tridharma consisting of the Informatics Engineering Education Study Program, the Information Technology Study Program, and the Electronics and Informatics Engineering Education Study Program (S- 2) on Thursday, November 17, 2022.

Taking place at the UNY Faculty of Engineering, representatives from both universities held a thorough discussion regarding plans for cooperation that could be carried out by the UPI Computer Science Education Department and the UNY Faculty of Engineering. Lecturer representatives from the Computer Science Education Department who attended the meeting were Dr. Wahyudin, M.T., Lala Septem Riza, M.T., Ph.D., and Eki Nugraha, S.Pd., M.Kom.

The activity began with presentations from both parties explaining their respective profiles, work programs and vision also mission. Furthermore, there was discussion regarding the scope of cooperation including activities to achieve the Tridharma of Higher Education which consists of Education, Research, and Service. The activities that can be carried out based on the results of the discussion are as follows:

Educational Field:

  1. Implementation of lectures (Joint Lecture, Visiting Professor, teaching, tutorials, face-to-face and/or online;
  2. Implementation of practical guidance/practicum and field practice both face-to-face and online;
  3. Implementation of guidance on scientific work, final project or Thesis/Thesis/Dissertation;
  4. Implementation of Independent Learning Campus Freedom (MBKM);
  5. Implementation of academic activities (KKN guidance, Real Work Practices, Field Work Practices, and research-based lectures);
  6. Implementation of testing the final exam/profession/Dissertation; and
  7. Development of teaching materials and non-teaching materials.

Research Fields:

  1. Ongoing joint research with various research schemes in the research guidelines for research managers;
  2. Making designs and research works that are patented or registered in Intellectual Property Rights (IPR);
  3. Writing scientific papers or research articles for publication in national or international journals;
  4. Writing reference books, monographs, book chapters, results of joint research;
  5. Publication of scientific works, articles/journals, reference books, monographs, book chapters from the research results of both parties;
  6. Journal Editorial and Reviewers between study programs managed by both parties;

And Field of Service:

  1. Community Service Collaboration
  2. Publication of Public Service Outcomes.

“Hopefully the cooperation carried out by the two tertiary institutions under the computer-based Study Program from both the UPI Mathematics and Natural Sciences Education Faculty and the UNY Faculty of Engineering can run sustainably and can increase the Main Performance Index (IKU) of Higher Education.” said Dr. Wahyudin, M.T. regarding his expectations.

This collaboration is an effort by both institution to be able to improve the academic quality of each tertiary institution in order to support the increase in the Main Performance Index and the achievement of the Tridharma of Higher Education.
